300. Spring
Only a few magnolias, including this ‘Ann’ Magnolia, are still in bloom at the Longenecker Horticultural Gardens in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum. (Say that three times fast!) More than a hundred different crabapples are coming into perfect bloom, and the lilacs aren’t too far behind.
In all, the gardens feature more than 2,000 trees and shrubs. When the spring flowering trees bloom, the 50 acre garden is crowded with people and their cameras–me, included!
63. Concrete or Cement
I couldn’t help but think that these concrete columns on this portico looked like misplaced tree trunks, as they were surrounded by hundreds of varieties of trees in our local arboretum. And if you think I mistakenly posted an autumn photo, nope. I took this on the 2nd of April, before the remainder of last year’s leaves have fallen, and before the snow storm predicted for tomorrow covers everything with a fresh blanket of white.
Sometimes living in Wisconsin with its “spring weather” can be a bit trying. Give it another month, and the flowers will be in full bloom and I’ll be loving it.
29. Bodies of Water
This stream runs through the University of Wiscosnin at Madison campus. One of the few places with open water in the city. Nearly everything else is frozen solid, much to the satisfaction of scores of ice anglers.
277. Seven
On a kiosk on the University of Wisconsin Madison. No dearth of activities when the students need some time away from the books.
344. Up on Top
This is one of the oldest dormitories on the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus. You get a great view from your window from one of the top floor rooms, but you do not get much space.
