Shrine of St. Anne and the Holy Kinship

The Cloisters, part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, has some amazing ancient artifacts. This wood relief from Northern Europe was carved and painted in the late 1400s.  This is only a small portion of the entire work of art.

    Do you know what the object is that Anne is holding? She and the Child both have their hands on something that looks like a vase?
