Dubuque at Dawn

51. City Lights

51. City Lights

Spent a long weekend in the river city of Dubuque, Iowa, taking in the sights. We had cloudy weather for most of the visit, but the skies cleared in the night and Sunday morning offered a rare glimpse of the pink dawn before a brilliant winter sunrise. It’s cold and the many chimneys give proof.

Beautiful night shot – love the colors and the “moodiness” of the image! Nice!

Has a Dickensian Daguerreotype feel, very effective

Candy beat me to it–looking at this photo reminded me of the way the camera pans over the rooftops of London in Mary Poppins. (“Coo! What a sight!” Dick marvels.)

I really like this, the colours, the lights …. Just great. Gives me incentive to go out and take some nighttime city shots (my “city” is fairly small and unfortunately a “dark” city because we have a big observatory om the mountain but there are dim lights) Great look!

Wonderful photo, Bo! The colors of the sky are amazing. That’s one of those images that makes me think, Boy I would have liked to have been there…

Very nice great sky and catching the chimneys, wonderful. Yes it does remind me too of Mary Poppins.
