Black on Black

61. Companion

61. Companion

Jazz is my constant companion when I am home. She follows me from room to room, races with me as I go up or down the stairs, and sleeps at the foot of my bed. Several times each day, especially in the evening when I sit down to use the computer, she climbs into my lap and pats my cheek with her paw until I give her a little attention.

I like this portrait of her, with the natural light from a north window providing a gentle sidelight, and the black background letting her emerge from the darkness.  She looks a bit mysterious. And she is!

That is an outstanding shot and so difficult to achieve even half that well, Careful Tammy and Karen don’t try and steal Jazz from you.

Now, I am not a cat person, so I’m usually not attracted to feline portraits–but the glow in the eyes of this critter is mesmerizing.

What a fine feline portrait! Black cats are really tricky to photograph and you did a splendid job. I’m missing having cats around just hearing your description of your companion…….

This is so well done. A fantastic portrait of a very beautiful subject. The light in the whiskers alone knocks me out not to mention the eyes and…

She does look mysterious but her sweetness shines through. Great portrait. They are not easy creatures to photograph.
