Closed for Winter

54. Closed

54. Closed

It’s the season where everything is closed and everyone is waiting. Can’t kite sail or  ice skate or ice fish. The ice is too thin and the surface is sloppy. And it’s sure not time for boating or swimming–unless you like polar bear swims–so the best we can hope for is a long spell of warm weather.

This is Lake Mendota, one of the four lakes that are in the city Madison.

Better than having it closed for the first shark attack in 60 years like occurred at Bondi Beach yesterday, for my money though, all of Canada, most of Northern USA and generally Europe as the freezing of air makes it hard to breath.

Interesting lines in your photo and the nice contrast in color.

Love that bright red against the blue water, you also caught the texture of the ice very nicely!

Yes, the red and water contrast is great. We are all waiting patiently that is true. Or impatiently actually.

Ditto on the red against the background of the frozen water – really dynamic!
